Nine crew members from China were taken into custody over illegal fishing in waters near Yeonpyeong Island.

The coast guard were given formal recognition for their work. They had driven away illegal Chinese crab boats there.

On a separate matter, a prawn fisher from West Vancouver was fined $5,000. The fine was imposed because he dropped traps near glass sponge reefs.

Regulators confirmed there will be no fishing for coho salmon in Lake Washington. The closure applies to anglers there.
