Members of Parliament have recommended overhauling the BBC's licence fee. They suggest cutting costs and extending funding to cover areas outside of television. MPs also suggest abolishing the BBC's charter renewal and halting the broadcaster from outbidding commercial rivals for overseas shows. The proposals aim to solve the BBC's operational difficulties as it faces a critical decision point. The recommendations come amid continuous debates about the broadcaster's next steps.
